Gold Canyon held two elections for mayor this year. The first election was held in fall 2007 and the second in
spring 2008. In the first election, the candidates wrote speeches, designed platforms, and participated in a mayoral
debate. They considered city issues such as taxes, height limits, and whether to allow cars. Kiran was elected
mayor, Sydney was elected vice-mayor and Elizabeth was elected Beautification Manager.  Other candidates also
received city jobs: Tyler was City Planner, William was Judge, Anna was City Historian, Bert was safety inspector
and Andrew was Ambassador.

In the second election, we had four candidates. There were new issues such as what to do about a business that
was built on top of endangered Arctic foxes and what to do about the lack of space for nature in the city.

Tilak was elected mayor, Becky was elected Vice-Mayor, Daniel was elected ambassador, and Mariana as City
Historian.
